Erstens ist da kein Tal, zweitens gar nichts paradiesisch. Die Stadt ist extrem lebendig, jung und ein wenig kriminell. Kneipen, Kunst und Leben \u00fcberall. Angeblich auch gef\u00e4hrlich. Als uns der Uber-Taxifahrer am Hostel in der Avenda Templeman absetzt, warnt er uns: Dies sei derzeit eine der gef\u00e4hrlichsten Stra\u00dfen der Stadt, erst letzte Woche ist ein kanadischer Tourist ermordet worden. Wir sind ein wenig verunsichert und legen alle Wertgegenst\u00e4nde ab, nehmen nur ein Handy und ein wenig Bargeld mit. Auf den Stra\u00dfen rundum ist alles voller Streetart, nachmittags sind viele Menschen unterwegs. Wir f\u00fchlen uns eigentlich ganz wohl und zweifeln ein wenig, was wir glauben sollen. Letztlich \u00fcberwiegt die Vorsicht und wir sehen zu, dass wir vor der D\u00e4mmerung zur\u00fcck in die Unterkunft kommen. Von unserer winzigen Dachterrasse aus genie\u00dfen wir noch die Aussicht auf die Bucht, den Hafen, die Stadt. Auf dem Dach des Nachbarhauses steht eine rostige Isetta. Das ganze Haus wirkt wie aus Abbruchmaterial zusammengezimmert: K\u00fcche und Gemeinschaftsbereich sind ein entkernter Fachwerkbau, die gu\u00dfeiserne Wendeltreppe ist so eng, dass ich kaum mit meinem Rucksack durchpasse. Einige Fenster sind mit farbigen Scheiben verglast wie in einer Kirche; jeder T\u00fcrstock anders bunt gestrichen. Zwei der drei Duschen bleiben trotz besten Zuredens kalt, die Seife in den Spendern besteht zu 99 Prozent aus Wasser und die Handt\u00fccher sind kratzig und hart vom Kalk. Genau so wie ich es mag! Jeder Gegenstand hier atmet seine eigene Geschichte, alles ist alt und ein wenig schief, aber liebevoll angebracht und dekoriert. Jeden Tag kommen abends andere junge Leute, vor allem Frauen, kochen und essen zusammen. Manche \u00fcbernachten auch hier, manche duschen und essen blo\u00df, wohl weil sie keine andere M\u00f6glichkeit haben. Zahlende G\u00e4ste gibt es nur wenige. Der einzige Fixpunkt ist ein junger Mann aus Argentinien. Er ist der Nachtw\u00e4chter und schl\u00e4ft im ersten Schlafsaal im Erdgescho\u00df. Er zeigt uns die besten, sehenswertesten und neuesten murales (Streetart \u2013 Wandbilder) und f\u00fchrt uns durch das verwirrende Gewirr der Gassen und die angesagtesten Viertel \u2013 unser Hostel liegt zuf\u00e4llig mittendrin. Fast alle Wandbilder haben eine mehr oder weniger versteckte politische Botschaft, die meisten protestieren gegen die staatliche Repression, viele prangern die Unterdr\u00fcckung der indigenen Bev\u00f6lkerung oder den Raubbau an der Natur an. Auf einigen der gemalten Gesichter ist jeweils eins der Augen \u00fcbermalt, teils in brutalem rot oder schwarz. Dies ist eine Art stiller Protest der K\u00fcnstlergemeinde. Einige Demonstranten haben n\u00e4mlich bei den Protesten im Tr\u00e4nengasnebel und Gummigescho\u00dfhagel ein Auge verloren. Bei den Unruhen ging es um mehr als eine Fahrpreiserh\u00f6hung. Juan erz\u00e4hlt uns \u00fcber die soziale Ungleichheit in Chile. Bessere Bildungschancen, angemessene Gesundheitsvorsorge und ausreichende Altersvorsorge sind in extremer Weise der reichen Oberschicht vorbehalten. Zum einen wegen der Kunst, zum anderen wegen des\nReizgases. Am Geruch erkennt man sofort die Viertel, wo die Demonstrationen\nstattfinden. Ich frage mich, wie es sein kann, dass es noch am n\u00e4chsten Nachmittag\nderart ekelhaft stinkt; wahrscheinlich sind die Mauern schon impr\u00e4gniert. Jede\nNacht wird von der Polizei gro\u00dfz\u00fcgig ein neuer Aufguss nachgelegt. Uns laufen\ndie Nasen, der Hals kratzt und die Augen tr\u00e4nen. Oben auf dem H\u00fcgel&nbsp; bei der Casa Sebastiana merkt man nichts\ndavon. Hier lebte Pablo Neruda, der beliebte chilenische Poet, Nobelpreistr\u00e4ger\nund Freund Salvador Allendes. Irgendwie gibt\nes ein Problem mit der Seite des Busunternehmens, immer wieder h\u00e4ngt die ganze\nSache, dann geht es doch weiter: Endlose Formulare m\u00fcssen ausgef\u00fcllt werden.\nWarum will das Reiseunternehmen eigentlich wissen, ob wir verheiratet sind? Als\nich dann zum Bezahlen komme, stockt der Prozess unerbittlich. Drei- oder\nviermal mache ich die ganze Tortur mit, dann gebe ich es auf. Wie damals in Indonesien\nhabe ich nun einen ganzen Bus mit meinen digitalen Geisterklonen besetzt.
