Ich m\u00f6chte die Zeit im Bus zum Schreiben nutzen \u2013 mal sehen wie weit ich komme, bevor es mir \u00fcbel wird. Bisher hatte ich f\u00fcr jedes neue Land eine kleine Einf\u00fchrung geschrieben &#8211; zu Malaysia fehlt diese noch. An dieser Stelle ein herzlicher Gru\u00df und Dank an meine treuen Leser! Gestern habe ich mal wieder beim Hoster nachgesehen: Zur Zeit lesen etwa 3000 Leute mit. Es freut mich sehr, dass ihr dabei seid. Wenn ihr etwas besonders gut findet (oder auch besonders schlecht), z\u00f6gert nicht, einen Kommentar zu schreiben. Falls gew\u00fcnscht, gern auch als PN \u2013 dann schalte ich den Kommentar nicht \u00f6ffentlich. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kaum haben wir Ipoh verlassen, sind wir schon auf einer sehr modernen und gut ausgebauten sechs- bis achtspurigen Autobahn unterwegs. \u00dcberhaupt ist Malaysia verkehrstechnisch erste Liga, da kann sich jedes deutsche Verkehrsunternehmen ein leuchtendes Beispiel nehmen. Von der deutschen Bahn will ich gar nicht anfangen. Hier ist eigentlich jedes \u00f6ffentliche Verkehrsmittel g\u00fcnstig, p\u00fcnktlich, effektiv und sauber, die Angestellten sind dar\u00fcber hinaus freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ich komme kaum zum Schreiben, denn die Landschaft ist so sch\u00f6n: Hohe bewaldete Felszacken ragen aus der Ebene, viele davon sind zerkl\u00fcftet und die Bergflanken aufgerissen von Steinbr\u00fcchen. Das Parlament hat wie das englische Vorbild ein Ober- und ein Unterhaus. Malaysia entstand 1963 aus vier ehemaligen Teilen des britischen Weltreiches: der F\u00f6deration Malaya, der Kronkolonie Nordborneo, der Kronkolonie Singapur (bis 1965) und der Kolonie Sarawak. Malaysia ist Gr\u00fcndungsmitglied des Verbandes S\u00fcdostasiatischer Staaten (ASEAN) und gilt trotz gro\u00dfer Stabilit\u00e4t immer noch wirtschaftlich als Schwellenland. Komplett in den feuchthei\u00dfen Tropen gelegen, war das Land bis Anfang des 21. Jahrhunderts noch zur H\u00e4lfte von Regenwald bedeckt. Besonders in Sarawak auf Borneo spricht man von einem Hotspot der Biodiversit\u00e4t, weil es noch sehr viele seltene Tier- und Pflanzenarten gibt. Die wertvollen Tropenh\u00f6lzer werden jedoch \u00fcberm\u00e4\u00dfig abgeholzt, Brandrodung zur landwirtschaftlichen Nutzung und \u00dcbernutzung der B\u00f6den, sowie Palm\u00f6lplantagen r\u00fccken den Orang-Utans, Nash\u00f6rnern, Tigern, Elefanten und anderen bedrohten Spezies immer mehr auf den Pelz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Autobahn haben wir schon vor einer Viertelstunde verlassen, jetzt schraubt sich unser 28-Sitzer m\u00fchsam eine sehr steile, kurvige Stra\u00dfe durch neblige Bergw\u00e4lder hoch bis zu einem Pass, um auf der anderen Seite eine ebenso steile, kurvige Stra\u00dfe wieder hinunter zu fahren. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schon im Mittelalter gab es im malayischen Raum H\u00e4fen und K\u00f6nigreiche, die vom Handel prosperierten. Der Islam kam hier im 14. Jahrhundert an und kurz darauf wurden auch Portugiesen, Niederl\u00e4nder und Engl\u00e4nder auf die reiche Region aufmerksam. Im Laufe der Kolonialgeschichte setzte sich letztlich die britische Krone durch. Im zweiten Weltkrieg war Malaysia durch Japan besetzt, danach wuchs zunehmend der Wunsch nach Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit. Ein Bergrutsch hat\nhier die Stra\u00dfe zur H\u00e4lfte weggerissen. Es hat heftig zu regnen begonnen. So\ngeh\u00f6rt sich das ja auch in einem echten Regenwald. An einigen geeigneten\nStellen hat man hier Terrassen in den steilen Hang planiert und Gew\u00e4chsh\u00e4user\naus Folientunneln errichtet. Was hier gepflanzt wird, kann ich nicht erkennen.\nNach etwa zwei Stunden ist eine Hochebene erreicht, die Kurven werden weiter\nund die Berge etwas weniger schroff. Hier ist jedes St\u00fcckchen halbwegs ebenes\nGel\u00e4nde terrassiert und ein Gro\u00dfteil davon mit Gew\u00e4chsh\u00e4usern zugepflastert. Die meisten Menschen leben auf dem Festland in Westmalaysia, w\u00e4hrend in Sarawak und Sabah (Borneo) nur ein F\u00fcnftel wohnt. Die sunnitisch islamischen Malaien erheben politischen F\u00fchrungsanspruch und werden seitens der Regierung bevorzugt. Das Wachstum der Bev\u00f6lkerung ist mit etwa 1,6&nbsp;% j\u00e4hrlich relativ hoch, etwa ein Drittel der Bev\u00f6lkerung ist j\u00fcnger als 15 Jahre, wobei etwa 75% der Menschen in St\u00e4dten leben. Religionsfreiheit besteht nur auf dem Papier, die Todesstrafe wird erst seit 2018 nicht mehr vollzogen, Homosexualit\u00e4t ist nach wie vor strafbar. Laut der NGO Reporter ohne Grenzen ist die Lage der Pressefreiheit im Land schwierig. Ist das wirklich das Etappenziel, das wir uns ausgesucht haben? Landwirtschaft wird hier offensichtlich kompromisslos und gewinnmaximiert betrieben. Man kann sehen, wie von Baumaschinen komplette Bergkuppen abgetragen und eingeebnet werden, um anderswo T\u00e4ler zuzusch\u00fctten, neue Anbaufl\u00e4chen zu gewinnen und Plantagen anzulegen. Angesichts der unz\u00e4hligen Quadratkilometer Foliengew\u00e4chsh\u00e4user frage ich mich, was aus all diesem Plastik wird, wenn es zerschlissen ist. Keine Minute sp\u00e4ter passieren wir einen kleinen Fluss, seine Ufer sind von Plastikfetzen bedeckt; in den B\u00e4umen am Ufer h\u00e4ngen mehr Folienreste als Bl\u00e4tter. Trotzdem ist diese Region ein beliebtes Urlaubsziel: Wegen des angenehm k\u00fchlen Klimas kommen viele Malaysier gern in die Berge. Hochh\u00e4user bedecken reihenweise die Bergk\u00e4mme, teilweise erinnert es uns an zugebaute Skiorte in \u00d6sterreich. Wir beschlie\u00dfen, der Gegend dennoch eine Chance zu geben, zur&nbsp; Weiterreise reicht heute die Zeit ohnehin nicht. Das ganze h\u00f6rt sich schlimmer an, als es dann ist. Mit uns sitzen zwei Schottinnen und ein Paar aus den Niederlanden im Landrover. Auf dem Feldweg zum Mooswald werden wir alle gut durchgesch\u00fcttelt. Holzstege und viele Treppenstufen erleichtern den Einblick in das kleine Naturschutzgebiet \u201eMossy Forest\u201c. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tats\u00e4chlich sind hier alle Baumst\u00e4mme rundherum mit Moos bewachsen. Die Luft ist k\u00fchl und sehr feucht, ideales Wachswetter. In den Astgabeln sitzen dicke Moosklumpen, diese bilden wiederum die Lebensgrundlage f\u00fcr kleinere Aufsitzerpflanzen. Es gibt Farne in jeder erdenklichen Form \u2013 von Fingernagelgr\u00f6\u00dfe bis zur H\u00f6he eines Hauses. Alles strebt hoch, klettert, w\u00e4chst und vergeht unweigerlich auch wieder. \u00dcberall lauern Destruenten wie Pilze, Asseln, W\u00fcrmer, K\u00e4fer, die alles tote organische Material im Nu zersetzen. Leider k\u00f6nnen wir im Nebel von dem 2000 Meter hohen Berggipfel aus nur die Nachbargipfel sehen, beeindruckend ist der Ausblick auf den Wald von oben dennoch. Im Unterholz entdecken wir mehrere Kobralilien mit der charakteristischen, schlangenartigen Zunge. Ber\u00fchrt man diese, so sagt man uns, stirbt die Pflanze. \u00dcber dem Weg entdecken wir eine kletternde Kannenpflanze; auch sie wurzelt nicht im fruchtbaren Boden, sondern im Mooskleid anderer Pflanzen. Den Mangel an N\u00e4hrstoffen gleicht sie aus, indem sie in ihren zu Kannen umgeformten Bl\u00e4ttern Insekten f\u00e4ngt und verdaut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3
